This piece is a functional sculpture, inspired by magnificent geodes found in nature.  I threw this form on the wheel, indented the surface and over many hours, applied the hand carved geodes one by one. I carved the surface of this piece as well to add to the jagged texture. I then hand painted it, fired it in the kiln and accented it in 22k gold.
