This mug is a functional sculpture, inspired by the beautiful geodes and crystal formations found in nature. Glazed in contrasting textures, I threw this mug on the wheel and applied my hand carved crystals and accented it in 22k gold. The gray area on this mug is matte representing the rough exterior of the geode. There is a diagonal line of small geodes going down the back of this mug, all highlighted in 22k gold.
