Naomi Singer, Artist & Educator

Rooted in themes of femininity, intimacy, and resilience, Naomi Singer creates evocative artwork that explores the quiet strength and beauty in the innate contrast of the feminine. Inspired by nature, Naomi’s art is a meditation on love, loss, and the perpetual search for calm, born from a personal journey shaped by the early loss of her mother at fifteen years old. In delicate petals, weathered edges, and the interplay of light and shadow, she observes and expresses both the power and softness of the feminine traits in the world around us. Examining the subtle drama of the natural world, Naomi’s paintings capture the intimate moments where vulnerability becomes strength; the gentle curve of a petal, the way flowers fold and strain under sun and rain, revealing their resilience in the face of the elements. Studying the undulating curves in flowers and plant life, she reveals their innermost forms like private conversations. Her work invites stillness, reflection, and close observation, celebrating the beauty in the “imperfections” that develop not in spite of challenges, but because of them.

Educated at the New York Academy of Art and the Art Students League of New York, Naomi studied under the legendary realist painter Nelson Shanks, whose influence continues to inform both her own approach to art as well as her teaching methods. A passionate educator as well as an artist, Naomi is a founder and sole owner of an art school where she provides drawing and painting instruction primarily to girls and young women, nurturing the next generation of artists and offering them access to the creative guidance she once longed for herself. With over 20 years of experience as an art instructor, she continues to teach and mentor girls of all ages, helping them find their voices through drawing, painting, and clay, just as she found hers.

In addition to her painting practice, Naomi is a celebrated ceramic artist and founder of Modern Mud, a ceramics studio known for organic earth-inspired forms such as geodes, crystals, and succulents. A single mother to three teenage daughters, each an artist in her own right, Naomi continues to live the creative life she teaches, surrounded by art, beauty, and the persistent strength of women.
